Opportunities
Funded Ph.D. opportunities in low-temperature plasma and hypersonic nonequilibrium flow at the University of North Dakota.
Funded Ph.D. Positions
I am looking for Ph.D. students to join my research group in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Dakota, starting Spring 2027 or Fall 2027. Students will work on recently funded research projects.
Low-Temperature Plasma
Study complex plasma physics phenomena through physics-based computational methods for low-temperature plasma systems.
Hypersonic Nonequilibrium Flow
Study complex gas-dynamics phenomena in hypersonic nonequilibrium flows using predictive particle-based simulations.
Kinetic Theory to GPU-Accelerated Computing
The projects emphasize next-generation computational methods based on kinetic theory, including Direct Simulation Monte Carlo and Particle-in-Cell, and the use of GPU-accelerated high-performance computing.
Application Materials
Applicants should have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
